A man is in a critical condition in hospital after reports of a serious assault in Rutherglen.
The 51-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital after the early morning incident in the town's Farmeloan Road.
Police are currently investigating at the scene and say they were called to the area around 12.05am this morning (Thursday).
An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries are ongoing.
A police spokesman told Lanarkshire Live : "We received a report that a man had been seriously assaulted.
"Emergency services attended and a 51-year-old man was taken to hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as critical.
"An 18-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."
