Man 'safe and well' after five-hour rooftop stand-off in Sale

Roads were closed as police dealt with a man stood on the roof of a hotel.

Officers were called to Washway Road in Sale, Trafford, at around 6pm on Saturday night.

GMP said there were concerns for the man's welfare.

The incident was resolved safely around five hours later, the force said.

The man is now said to be 'safe and well'.

He was on the roof of the Amblehurst Hotel on Washway Road.

Washway Road was closed in both directions between Marsland Road and Sibson Road.

A statement posted by Greater Manchester Police on Facebook said: "Officers are currently responding to an ongoing incident on Washway Road in Sale.

"Officers were called to reports of the concern for welfare of a man on a roof. Officers are on the scene."

In an update at 11.15pm, the force said: "This incident have now been resolved.

"The individual is reported to be safe and well."

The Manchester Evening News has contacted the Amblehurst Hotel for a response.
