Man's unsuspecting Google screenshot melts people's hearts on Twitter

Twitter users have been left feeling emotional after a man spotted two of his family members on Google Street View.

Street View is a Google feature that provides interactive panoramas from positions along many streets in the world. Streets with the feature available are shown as blue lines on Google Maps.

Google cars regularly take photos of streets and these are stitched together for the Street View display. Images are updated every so often.

Users can also scroll back to past images when using Street View, and it was when doing this that Mike Doyle, from Liverpool, came across a photo of his grandad alongside his late nan.

Sharing the snap on Twitter, Mike said: "My Nan passed away in 2015, so it’s great to see Google Maps have recently added a feature to see old street views, like this one of her going out with my Grandad in 2012.

"My Grandad still lives on to this day, at 90 and he’ll be made up when I show him this."

Twitter users were quick to reply, with many being touched by the story. Layla said: "Love this Mike" with a tearful emoji, while James said: "Amazing". Clare Cooney said "That is so cute xx", and Kath said: "Ah Mike that's boss".

Ken said: "Thank you for posting this, I’ve just put my old address into it and there’s my dad up a ladder outside the house, I lost him almost 8 years ago and it’s absolutely made my day!"
