Man's 'suspicious behaviour' causes 'alarm' in park

A man has caused concern due to his "suspicious behaviour" around a Runcorn park and shopping district.

Police have spoken the man believed to be responsible for a spate of reports of “suspicious behaviour” which have caused "alarm".

Social media posts emerged online this week referring to a man hanging round paths, and either standing in bushes or emerging from them around Hallwood Park and the Halton Lea shopping district.

Inspector Shaun Pyke, of Cheshire police, told the ECHO that officers had spoken to the man in question, and although the behaviour had caused “alarm” and “concern”, there had been “no apparent criminal offences”.

Insp Pyke said: “We are aware of recent suspicious behaviour which has caused residents concern in Runcorn.

“We have spoken to the man who was reported to us as causing some alarm to people walking in the Hallwood Park and surrounding area, and have advised him about his behaviour.

“We understand the concern and are monitoring the situation.

“While there are no apparent criminal offences, if there are at any point we will take action.

“Anyone who sees repeat behaviour should contact police on 101 quoting IML 930914.”
