NEW YORK _ A man traveling from the Dominican Republic was arrested last week after authorities noticed his pants were unusually "snug" _ prompting them to find cocaine taped to his legs.
Juan Carlos Galan Luperon, a United States citizen, arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport from the Dominican Republic on March 4, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency.
While he was being inspected, authorities said Luperon "exhibited numerous signs of nervousness" and "his pants appeared to be rather snug."
Luperon was taken to a private search room and CBP officers found packages taped to both of his legs, authorities said. The packages contained approximately 10 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $164,000, authorities said.
Luperon was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations, authorities said. He faces narcotics smuggling charges, authorities said.
