Man's simple bowl turn trick means hob stays spotless when he cooks messy meals

When it comes to doing chores around the house, we can all agree cleaning our hob tops the list of things we need to do that we tend to avoid.

But now, a man has revealed how he manages to keep it cleaner for longer with a simple trick.

TikTok user Andrew Gatt demonstrated a hack which stops leftover liquid dripping all over the place - and it's so simple it had viewers wondering why they hadn't thought of it before.

The idea is to catch the dripping contents rather than letting it escape over the edges of the container by flipping it upside down.

The liquid always makes a mess (@andrew_gatt/TikTok)

While Andrew is seen using raw egg to demonstrate his trick, it would work just as well with any liquid.

In the video Andrew transfers his eggs from a bowl to a frying pan.

But as he begins to turn the bowl straight back up like most of us would usually, he says: "If I pour this egg into this pan and turn it back this way and put it down on the counter, it's gonna drip down the side and it's gonna be on the outside."

Instead he demonstrates his technique which helps him avoid a messy outcome by simply continuing to turn it until it's entirely upside down, then control the liquid back into the bowl.

Andrew adds: "If I continue to turn like this, the drip will go back into the bowl.

"I can put it on the counter and I don't have an extra mess to clean up on the counter," he concludes.

Since being shared on TikTok it has received almost 75,000 likes, over 2000 comments and has been viewed 2.2 million times.

It was captioned: "How old were you when you learned this life hack" and it turns out that the majority of his followers had no idea...

One person said: "Today years old. The answer was staring us in the face all our lives but it was too obvious to notice. Thank you!"

A second added: "HOW DARE YOU BE THIS SMART."

Another said: "Brilliant."

And: "So simple. Idk why we didn't think of this" wrote a fourth.
