Man's shock after CCTV shows motorist crash into his parked car - and then drive off

A man has been left "looking over his shoulder" after he captured a motorist on CCTV crashing into his parked car before allegedly driving off.

Jakub Kulesza, who lives in Orston Drive in Lenton, says he was sleeping when the crash happened early in the morning at around 8.57am on August 21.

Upon walking to his car, a red Peugeot 207, he noticed the entire rear bumper had been damaged.

A large dent had appeared, the bumper was left scuffed and the red paint had come away from the metalwork.

Mr Kulesza checked his CCTV footage, where he says he saw another vehicle crashing into the back of his car while it was parked.

The 25-year-old told Nottinghamshire Live: "It has been very hard because we moved to Nottingham about a year ago and we got burgled.

"It is unfortunate that these things keep happening to us. There is damage to the back of the car, it is fixable but it is going to cost about £1,000."

The footage captured by Mr Kulesza, who works as a software developer, appears to show a car crash, before the driver inspects the scene and allegedly drives off.

Nottinghamshire Police is now appealing for information.

Mr Kulesza added: "I'm hoping the police will be able to do something.

"I have had to stay in my house [while the car gets fixed]. I keep looking over my shoulder as I feel like it is going to happen again."

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "[The force] is appealing for information after a collision in Lenton.

"Nottinghamshire Police received a report on 21 August of a collision which happened just before 9am on Saturday 8 August.

"It was reported that there was a collision between a white car and a parked car, a red Peugeot 207, in Orston Drive, Lenton.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Andy Hallsworth added: “Officers are looking into this incident, including reviewing any available CCTV.

“I would encourage anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.

"If you saw what happened you should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 468 of 23 August 2020."
