Man's 'nose bitten off' in savage mass brawl outside ex-footballer's bar

A man had to be rushed to hospital after suffering severe facial injuries during a vicious brawl outside an ex-footballer's bar.

The 48-year-old has reportedly had his nose 'bitten off' and spat out on the pavement.

Police responded to a call and set up a cordon around the severed nose.

Officers placed a protective box over the nose as they were heard saying it was in 'protective custody'.

The incident took place ex-Dundee and Rangers star Nacho Novo's NN10 bar in Glasgow at about 5.15pm on Saturday.

Witnesses said there had been three battles raging simultaneously.

One eyewitness who claimed to have seen the man's nose got bitten off, told the Daily Record : "It was horrible.

"I ran into the 'Fake It' hair and nail salon to escape because there was nowhere else to go."

Staff at the salon had taken the injured man into the shop while waiting for ambulance.

One said: "There were a few guys punching each other who banged into the salon window so girls put the shutter down to protect us."

It's understood that the injured man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for surgery and was in a stable condition yesterday.

The incident was initially mistaken as stabbing as some of the brawlers were brandishing knives, it is reported.

One witness said it all started shortly after a flute band arrived in the pub.

A spokeswoman fro Police Scotland said: "A 48-year-old male was taken by ambulance to hospital where he was treated for severe facial injuries.

"Police are following a definite line on inquiry. Anyone with information should contact us."
