Man's girlfriend locks him in handcuffs... before losing the key - they called the cops

A man phoned the police after his girlfriend locked him in handcuffs - and then lost the key.

When officers arrived the couple explained they hadn't called the fire brigade because the handcuffs were 'expensive' and they were worried firefighters might cut them off.

Luckily for all concerned, police helped him escape from the bind he found himself in.

Police in Rochdale received the unusual call in the early hours on Friday morning.

GMP Rochdale tweeted: "0430hrs. Male phoned requesting help as his girlfriend had locked him in some handcuffs and they couldn't now find the key.

"Wanted police as he feared the fire brigade would cut them and they were expensive.

"Male released..."
