Man's death in west Melbourne suburb sparks homicide investigation

Police are investigating after a badly injured man who was found on a main road in a west Melbourne suburb died.

Police were called to East Derrimut Crescent in Derrimut late last night after receiving reports a man was lying in the middle of the street.

When they arrived at the scene the man was gone, but officers found personal items on the road and blood in the surrounding area.

Early this morning a badly injured man was found on Boundary Road.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Victoria Police said homicide detectives were investigating.

A special operations unit and forensic police were working at a crime scene at East Derrimut Crescent today.

Police believe the East Derrimut Crescent incident is linked to the man's death on Boundary Road.

The man who died is yet to be identified.
