Wotsits are great, as I'm sure we can all agree. The cheesy crisps have long been one of the nation's favourites, featuring everywhere from children's lunchboxes to 90th birthday spreads. But can you enjoy the classic snack with soup?
Well the crunchy treat pairs well with a warm cuppa, at least according to one Reddit user. But not everyone is so convinced, as a post showing off the combination has ignited a fiery debate. On the one hand, many were disgusted by the "awful" creation. But others defended the recipe when they heard the reasoning behind it, going so far as to call the creator "genius".

The controversy came about after u/its_crayg_not_creg took to CasualUK to ask for feedback on a dish combining tomato soup and Wotsits, explaining the crisps had been added in place of croutons.
"Settle an argument, Wotsits as a crouton alternative in your tomato soup: awful or genius?" he wrote. Unfortunately, the feedback is not likely to have helped the post's writer and his opponent settle their debate.
Several people were horrified by the suggestion, blasting the meal as "absolutely awful" and "grim."
Someone even said: "I wanna puke."
Another commenter agreed, though they didn't completely write off the recipe. "I’ve found that food posts on this sub give me both a nausea and a curiosity," they wrote.
However, others praised the chef's creativity, suggesting different types of crisps which could also be substituted for the same use.
One person claimed: "Mini cheddars are better."
"Hula hoops will work much better. They stay crunchy for a little while!" a different commenter suggested.
