A man's colon burst after his "perverted" friends put a compressed air pump into his anus and inflated it, a medical report said.
The 30-year-old patient, who has not been named, was rushed to hospital and needed his entire bowel removed.
Doctors said the air pressure rose so high inside the rectum that it exploded.
Faeces was found among the man's other internal organs.
The medical report from the Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Rishikesh, India, highlights such high-pressure injuries are normally "confined to battlefields".
Industrial machinery such as air compressors must be used with care, the doctors added.
The report stated the man's injury was "caused by his perverted friends who put the nozzle of an air pipe (tire air pump) into his anus and inflated it".
The case study features in the Journal of Medical Case Reports, alongside other similar examples.
In another case, a 24-year-old man was dashed to hospital with an "alleged history of accidental injury to the anus by compressed air jet".
Surgeons had to remove part of his intestine because of damage caused by the incident.
"Education regarding such machines and their safe use must be encouraged because most of these cases are accidental and due to ignorance," writes Dr Lovenish Bains in the report.
