A heartbroken widower has spoken out after his car was allegedly vandalised while his wife was dying in hospital. Bob Jenkins from Llanbradach said he had been using the car to take his wife Janice for treatment at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr in late January when he noticed his back lights had been smashed in.
The 72-year-old said it meant he had to rely on lifts to see Janice, who was later admitted to the hospital due to her rapidly deteriorating health. Janice died aged 69 on February 8, a few days after being transferred to The Grange University Hospital.
Bob said: "She meant a lot to everybody. She was a happy and fun-going person and wouldn't cause anyone harm. She was dying in hospital when this happened. She knew about it and was very, very upset."

Bob said that after the alleged incident, which happened at the car park on Station Road in Llanbradach, he had to rely on lifts from his daughter to see Janice as he was unable to drive the car. He said: "At the time I was taking her back and forth to the hospital as she was having treatment the day before I was fetching her home. They smashed the back lights in.
"At first I thought maybe I had reversed into something, but both lights had been done so it would have been impossible, there is no way it could have been accidental. I thought 'how pointless' and wondered what sort of satisfaction someone had from this. I then had to rely on my daughter to take me back and forth. Thankfully she managed to get time off work when her bosses realised the situation."
He said when his wife was moved to The Grange on February 4, he decided to stay by her side instead. He said given the circumstances, the alleged needless vandalism caused him a lot of hurt. He said he hopes whoever is responsible will think twice about doing it again in the future.
"I hope one of them has got some sense of decency and it might turn their life around, that one of them will read this and learn from their mistakes," he said. "I'm hoping these people will realise how much hurt they have caused." The family is now appealing for information about the alleged incident.
