A man's body has been recovered from the River Mersey, police said.
The confirmation comes after emergency services were spotted by Pier Head in Liverpool over a "concern for safety".
A spokeswoman for the police sadly confirmed the body of a man was recovered from the River Mersey near to the Woodside Ferry Terminal, in Birkenhead.
The spokeswoman said: "Emergency services were called at around 7.15pm to Woodside Ferry terminal to a report that a man was in the water.
"Officers, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, Coastguard and North West Ambulance Service attended and the man was removed from the water and pronounced dead.
"At this time the death is not believed to be suspicious.
"The man's next of kin have been informed."
On Saturday evening, at about 7.15pm, a large emergency service was also present by the Pier Head, in Liverpool.
Police, Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team, the North West Ambulance Service and Mersey Fire Service were all called to the scene between about 7 and 8pm on Saturday evening.
Pictures from the waterfront showed emergency workers gathered.
The spokeswoman added: " Merseyside Police can confirm enquiries are underway following the recovery of a man’s body from the River Mersey near to the Woodside Ferry Terminal in Birkenhead this evening."
