Man's body pulled from River Clyde as police probe 4am incident

A man has been recovered from Glasgow's River Clyde following an incident at 4am this morning.

The man was seen running from the scene and jumped off a suspension bridge into the water during the early hours, police say.

Emergency services first rushed to the scene at 4.15am today amid reports that someone was in the water, Glasgow Live reported.

A large rescue mission in the water was launched as a police boat was seen patrolling the area.

Eyewitnesses reported a large police presence at the Euro Hostel on Clyde Street as officers cordoned off the scene.

An eyewitness said: "The Euro Hostel was completely taped off as well. There were loads of police officers and police cars around the hostel and by the Clyde as well."

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “At 4.15am this morning police were called to reports of a disturbance on Clyde Street.

“On arrival, they saw a man running away and jumping into the water along the suspension bridge.
