Man's body pulled from Water of Leith in Edinburgh as cops probe death

A man’s body has tragically been pulled from the Water of Leith in Edinburgh sparking a police investigation.

The grim discovery was made near Couper Street at around 7.55am on Saturday, April 10 before the alarm was raised.

A huge emergency services response raced to the scene with police, paramedics and fire crews tasked to deal with the sad incident.

Police Scotland have confirmed they are investigating the sudden death and that a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A force spokesperson said: “Around 7.55am on Saturday, 10 April, 2021, we received a report of the body of a man in the Water of Leith near Couper Street in Edinburgh.

“The body was recovered from the water and inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

"As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
