Man's body pulled from Scots canal after 'sudden death'

The body of a man has been pulled from a canal in Inverness.

Emergency services raced to the Canal Road area of Inverness at around 6:30am on Friday morning.

The 36-year-old was pulled from the water by fire crews but pronounced dead at the scene.

A report is set to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal but his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of the sudden death of a 36-year-old man in the water in the Canal Road area of Inverness around 6.40am on Friday, 3 September, 2021.

“The man was recovered from the water with the aid of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service but was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
