Man's body found on South Queensferry coastline day after 'search for person' in the water

A man's body has been found on the South Queensferry coastline a day after rescue teams conducted extensive searches for a person in the water.

Police have been in attendance at the scene of the discovery, near to the Port Edgar Marina, throughout the morning. The body was found at around 8.45am today.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning the HM Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter joined lifeboat teams from Kinghorn, South Queensferry and Fisherrow in searching the area.

This was following reports of a person in the water near the Forth Bridge. After looking for hours they were stood down having failed to find anything.

However a body has now been discovered, and a police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland is currently in attendance following the discovery of a man’s body on coastline near to the Port Edgar Marina, South Queensferry.

“The body was found around 8.45am on Wednesday, April 24.

“Inquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing but the death is not believed to be suspicious. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
