A man's body was found on a busy road by members of the public, police have confirmed.
Members of the public called the emergency services after discovering the man dead on the A465 in Monmouthshire on Friday lunchtime.
The road was closed in both directions for more than four hours following the discovery of the man's body in what traffic monitors initially described as a "police incident".
The man's body was discovered by members of the public in the Clydach Gorge area, near Gilwern, at lunchtime. The road was then closed for several hours and reopened at around 4.30pm.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: "At around 12.05pm on Friday a body of a man was found in the Clydach Gorge area, A465, by members of the public.
"Formal identification has yet to take place and officers are not treating the death as suspicious at this time and the coroner has been informed."
