A man has been charged with murder after a 24-year-old died following a fight near an inner-Brisbane train station that was caught on CCTV.
The 20-year-old was arrested over the fatal stabbing, which happened during an altercation between two groups, police say.
Officers were watching CCTV footage of the fight unfolding near Fortitude Valley Station at about 4am on Monday.
"On closer examination they saw a male person lying on the ground and persons nearby had blood on them," Inspector Sean Cryer told reporters.
"We immediately dispatched the Queensland ambulance and uniformed crews to the railway station."
The 24-year-old man from Bray Park in Brisbane's north was found injured near the Valley Metro food court above the Fortitude Valley station.
People who had been part of his group were by his side.
Witnesses and officers provided first aid before paramedics arrived, police said.
Despite efforts to resuscitate him, the man died at the scene.
"Unfortunately the male could not be saved...we'd like to extend our condolences to his family," Insp Cryer said.
Onlookers told the officers that three men had run into the train station.
Insp Cryer said they found the trio on a platform along with a weapon and the men were arrested.
The 20-year-old from Birkdale in Brisbane's southeast was later charged with murder.
He is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The two other men - aged 21 and 20 - were released without charge.
Police established Operation Uniform Mechanical to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
