Man's body found inside house as police launch murder investigation

A murder investigation has been launched after a man's body was found in a house in Warrington.

The body of a 58-year-old man was found at an address on Station Road, in Poulton-with-Fearnhead, on August 4.

Police arrived at the home at around 9.56pm after a report of concern for safety and found the man's body inside.

The death was initially treated as unexplained but following a Home Office post mortem examination a murder investigation has now been launched.

Detective Inspector Sarah Oliver, of Cheshire Police's Major Investigation Team, said: “The investigation is in its very early stages and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened.

“We have local officers in the area to provide reassurance to the community and anyone with any information or concerns is urged to speak to an officer.”

Any information on the investigation can be provided by calling Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 476959 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
