Officers have ruled out any foul play with police stressing "there are no suspicious circumstances" surrounding Mr Thompson's death.

But today an appeal was launched on behalf of the coroner's office for the public to help trace the pensioner's family.

So far efforts to locate relatives of Mr Thompson have proved unsuccessful.
