Man's body found in park near Lidl supermarket

Police have said the death of a man whose body was found in a park next to a Gloucester Lidl is not being treated as suspicious.

An air ambulance was seen landing close to St Oswald's Retail Park earlier this afternoon (Monday, July 13) and police soon confirmed that a body had been found.

As police remained on the scene at the small park next to Dean's Walk, Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed the discovery was being treated as an 'unexplained sudden death'.

Gloucestershire Live reports that the death is therefore not being considered suspicious at this stage by police.

A police spokesperson said: “At about 1.45pm today (Monday, July 13), police were called to Mercia Road in Gloucester following reports that a body had been found. Officers remain at the scene and no further information is available at this time.”

They later added: “The incident is an unexplained sudden death, but it is not being treated suspicious.

“We can also confirm that it was the body of a man, but cannot give any further details.”
