A man's body was discovered in wetlands in Salford on Monday afternoon.
The body of the 53-year-old was found by police in Kersal Wetland, near Kersal Way around midday.
Officers were initially called to reports of the concern for the welfare of a man.
The man's body was found in the water, an eyewitness said.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said they do not believe the man's death was suspicious.
He said: "Police were called at around 12pm today (Monday, March 30) to a report of a concern for welfare near Kersal Way in Kersal.
"Emergency services attended and sadly found the body of a man, aged 53.
"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a file has been passed to the coroner."
