Man's body found in Greenock flat as police probe 'unexplained death'

A man who was found with serious injuries in a Greenock flat in the early hours of this morning has died.

Officers have launched a probe into his death after finding him inside the property on Nelson Street at around 5.45am.

There are currently treating his death as "unexplained".

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "At around 5.45am on March 24 police were called to reports of a man seriously injured within a property on Nelson Street, Greenock.

"Emergency services arrived and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A post-mortem will take place in due course to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death.

"It is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are at an early stage."
