Man's body found in apartment in Limerick city as Garda investigation launched

A man's body was discovered Co. Limerick this afternoon.

The tragic discovery occurred at around 1pm in an apartment in Limerick city on Friday.

Gardai have launched an investigation into the man's death which occurred at a block of apartments on Alphonsus Street

His body has since been removed and taken to Limerick University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí attended the scene of an incident on Alphonsus Street in Limerick this afternoon 26 th February 2021 at 1.30pm.

"A male was discovered deceased in a residence, and his body has been removed to Limerick University Hospital for a post-mortem.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
