Man's body found behind Gateshead pub but police say there are no suspicious circumstances

An investigation is under way after a man's body was found behind a pub in Gateshead.

Police have confirmed that they don't believe there any suspicious circumstances but enquiries are ongoing to identify the deceased.

Emergency services were called to the Fox and Hounds pub in Crawcrook on Monday morning after the discovery was made.

The North East Ambulance Service sent a double-crewed ambulance and a rapid response paramedic however it was confirmed the man had died at the scene.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "At about 11.30am this morning police received a report that the body of a man had been found behind the Fox and Hounds Pub on Main Street in Crawcrook.

"Emergency services attended and confirmed that the man was deceased. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the circumstances around his death.

"At this time we do not believe there to be any third party involvement or any suspicious circumstances.”
