Man's body found at Edinburgh flats as cops probe death

A man has died after an incident near a block of flats in Edinburgh.

Emergency crews raced to Citadel Court, on Couper Street in Leith, just after 7am on Friday.

The man, aged 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forensics remain at the 13-storey building to preserve the area as police carry out an investigation.

It is not yet known if there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding this death.

It's been reported that a smashed mobile phone was spotted close to the man’s body.

Police say enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.10am officers were called to reports of a man found injured in Couper Street in Edinburgh.

"Emergency services attended but the 52-year-old man was pronounced dead.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full set of circumstances surrounding the incident."
