A body has been discovered at a house in Southport.
The grim discovery was made at address in Lathom Road on Friday morning.
Police have launched an investigation after the man, in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are treating the death is being treated as "unexplained" but at this stage police do not think it is suspicious.
The body was found when emergency services were called to the Southport property around 10.15am today.
The man's family have been informed say police.
A Merseyside Police spokeswoman told the ECHO : "We are investigating following the unexplained death of a man in Southport this morning, Friday, May 3.
"Emergency services were called to an address in Lathom Road at around 10.15am to reports of concern for the safety of a man in his 70’s.
"He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics."

She added: "The death is being treated as unexplained at this stage, but it is not believed to be suspicious. Next of kin have been informed."
A post-mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death.
A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed a rapid response vehicle was sent to the scene but was not required and "police were on the scene."
