Man’s arm partially severed in crazed chainsaw attack in West Lothian

A man's arm was partially severed after a maniac attacked him with a chainsaw sparking off a massive police hunt in West Lothian.

Police and paramedics raced to Rowan Place shortly after 10pm last night following reports from terrified locals a man was running amok with the chainsaw.

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to hospital with horrific arm injuries but is believed to be in a stable condition.

Police threw up a cordon as they hunted for the suspect who made off when officers arrived. The force helicopter was also deployed.

A local community page warned all locals to stay indoors and keep their doors locked as the drama unfolded.

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
