Man rushed to major trauma unit after being hit by car outside brewery

A man has been seriously hurt after being hit by a car outside a brewery in Middleton Junction.

Emergency services were called to JW Lees' Greengate Brewery on Friday morning to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian.

Closures were put in place on Lees Street, Grimshaw Lane and Green Lane while emergency services attended.

A man in his 60s suffered a serious head injury.

He was taken to the major trauma unit at Salford Royal Hospital.

GMP said: "We were called to Lees Road at 5.45am to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian outside Greengate Brewery.

"The pedestrian is believed to have suffered serious injury."

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service added: "We had a call at 5.49am to Middleton Junction to a reported RTC involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

"We sent an ambulance and two rapid response vehicles to the scene.

"A male patient in his 60s suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the major trauma unit at Salford Royal."
