Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries in third crash involving a motorbike on region's roads this week

A ma has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a third crash involving a motorbike on Greater Manchester's roads this week.

Police were called to Church Road in Urmston this morning (20 March) just before 9.55am to reports of a collision involving a motorcyclist.

The rider of the motorbike has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, GMP said. No further details about the crash or the person's identity have been released at this stage.

Pictures from the scene show police tape covering a stretch of Church Road, with officers seen guarding each end. A motorbike can be seen inside the cordon.

It's the third collision involving a motorbike on the region's roads this week. Two men sadly lost their lives after separate crashes in Salford on Wednesday and Friday.

The police scene in Urmston (ASP)

A 46-year-old man died after a crash between a motorbike and a car on the A57 near to Barton Airport just before 6am on Wednesday, 16 March.

According to police, a car and motorbike collided. The motorcyclist tragically died at the scene. The driver of the car - a Ford Fiesta - remained at the scene to talk to police.

And on Friday (18 March), a man in his 30s was tragically killed after a crash involving his motorbike and a car on Leigh Road in the Boothstown area of the city.

Tragically, the rider of the motorbike suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Responding to the latest incident, a spokesperson for GMP confirmed: "We were called just before 9.55am to a report of a collision involving a motorbike on Church Road, Urmston.

"The rider of the motorbike has been taken to hospital with serious injuries."
