Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries following crash in Prestwich

A man has suffered serious injuries following a crash in Prestwich.

Emergency services were called to the smash, involving two vehicles, in Bury New Road shortly before 2.10pm this afternoon (Thursday, October 29).

An eyewitness said the incident had happened close to the junction with Hilton Lane and Scholes Lane.

A man, believed to be in his 40s, has been rushed to Salford Royal Hospital with serious injuries.

Irene Neil, who owns Neil & Co Hair in Bury New Road, said she heard a loud 'bang' outside her salon.

She added: "We turned round when we heard the smack of the cars. It sounded quite bad.

"The fire brigade and the ambulance were here for quite a while.

"One was guy was very shaken up, by the looks of it.

"It went on for a while and held up the traffic."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles in Bury New Road, Prestwich, shortly before 2.10pm.

"A patient, a male in his 40s, was taken to Salford Royal Hospital with serious injuries."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they had also attended the incident.
