Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries after horror crash closes busy Edinburgh road

A man has been seriously injured following a two car crash on an Edinburgh road.

Emergency crews were called to the collision in Salamander Street at around 9.10am on Monday.

One man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Pictures from the scene show part of the road, outside the entrance to a cluster of car rental businesses and dealerships, sealed off by police as crash scene investigators carry out their enquiries.

The front ends of both vehicles have been badly damaged and airbags have been deployed.

Debris was left strewn across the road and forensic markers could also be seen on the ground.

Both ends of Salamander Street were blocked off to traffic by police cars and heavy traffic was seen on the adjacent Salamander Place at around noon.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services are currently dealing with a road crash involving two vehicles on Salamander Street, Edinburgh.

“The incident occurred around 9.10am on Monday 10 January, 2022. The road is currently closed.”
