Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries after Glasgow flat fire

A man is seriously injured in hospital after a fire ripped through a Glasgow home.

Emergency services were called to Elder Street in the Govan area of the city at around 9pm on Sunday.

Fire crews rescued a 52-year-old man from the property.

He was rushed to city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.

He remains in hospital but his current condition is unknown.

A photo shared online shows police vehicles still on the scene at around 11pm on Sunday.

Officers probing the fire say it is not being treated as suspicious.

Enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesman told the Record: “Police received report of a fire at a property on Elder Street in Glasgow around 9pm on Sunday, 20 September, 2020.
 
“Emergency services attended and a 52-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.
 
“The fire is not being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing.”

Three Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews raced to put out the blaze.


A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman told the Record: "We were called to Elder Street in Glasgow at 8.57pm on Sunday after reports of a fire.

"Three appliances attended.

"We have no information on any injuries as a result of the fire."
