A man and a woman were rushed to hospital after a horror one vehicle crash on a Scots road last night.
Emergency services raced to the A857, around two miles from Stornoway in the Western Isles, after the alarm was raised at around 10.20pm on Wednesday, July 28.
Ambulance crews attended and the male driver of the car was taken to Western Isles Hospital with serious injuries.
The female passenger was also taken to hospital, but was released after treatment.
Over 10 hours on from the accident, the road still remains closed.
Police say road collision investigation work in currently being untaken and local diversions are in place at the Barvas junction with the A858 and at Newmarket.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 10.20pm to a report of a one car crash on the A857, around two miles from Stornoway.
“The driver of the car, a man, was taken to Western Isles Hospital with serious injuries. The passenger, a woman, was also taken to hospital and released after treatment.
“The road remains closed for road collision investigation work and local diversions are in place at the Barvas junction with the A858 and at Newmarket, Stornoway.”
