Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries after 'assault' on residential street

A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following an alleged assault in Tameside. Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to Firethorn Drive in the Godley area of Hyde at around 8.25pm on Saturday (April 9).

Police rushed out to the scene along with paramedics, following reports of an assault. GMP says a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with a leg injury, which North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) has described as serious.

Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to come forward.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 8.25pm on Saturday, April 9 2022, we received a report of an assault on Firethorn Drive, Hyde. A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with a leg injury. An investigation is underway.

"Anyone with information should contact police via gmp.police.uk or 101 quoting 2705 09/04/22. Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity - Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

A spokesperson for NWAS added: "We responded to a police incident following a 999 call at 8.22pm. A patient was taken to the hospital with serious injuries."
