A man was hospitalised with head wounds after being attacked near a Fife roundabout last night.
The 27-year-old was thought to have been seriously injured in the assault near the town of Lochgelly at around 10.25pm last night.
Shocked locals reported seeing a big police presence in the area last night with an ambulance also spotted.
Police are treating the attack as a 'serious assault' and have called on any witnesses to come forward.
The man has since been released from hospital.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a serious assault at a roundabout near the B9149 at the A92, Fife, around 10.25pm on Saturday, 24 October.
"A 27-year-old man was taken to Victoria Hospital with what was believed to be a serious head injury. He has since been released.
"Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 4140 of 24 October 2020."
