Man rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after vicious Bachelors Walk assault

A young man was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after a vicious assault in Dublin city centre overnight.

The man, aged in his 20s, was found by gardai along Bachelors Walk just before midnight on Saturday with a deep laceration to his head.

He was rushed to the Mater Hospital for treatment, where his condition was described as serious.

The quayside street and its accompanying boardwalk has become a flashpoint for brawls in the city centre recently, with a number of incidents occurring in the vicinity over the summer.

Shocking footage obtained by Dublin Live in June showed a number of brawls breaking out between girl-led gangs who were "fighting every night", while three men were arrested and a number of weapons were seized from their car just last week.

Gardai say they are opening an assault investigation after the discovery.

"Gardai are investigating an alleged incident of assault that occurred at Bachelor’s Walk in Dublin 1 yesterday evening, Saturday 11 September 2021 at approximately 11.50pm," they told Dublin Live.

"A male, aged in his 20s, was seriously injured during the incident and was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment."
