Man rushed to hospital with serious facial injuries after attack in Hamilton

Cops are hunting a thug who left a man with serious facial injuries after attacking him on a public footpath in Hamilton.

The 36-year-old victim was was on a footpath at Hillside Crescent at its junction with Hillside Lane, in Hamilton, when he was approached by a man and seriously assaulted.

Cops are appealing for witnesses to the attack which happened between 8pm and 9pm on Saturday.

The man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he is receiving treatment for serious facial injuries.

The suspect is white, in his 30s and wearing dark coloured clothing.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and will be checking CCTV from in and around surrounding streets.

Detective Constable Andrew Sinclair said: “I am appealing to nearby residents to think back and consider if they saw or heard anything which could assist the investigation.  In particular, I would ask motorists who were in the area to check their dash cams as it’s possible an image of the suspect may have been captured.

"Any small piece of information could prove vital, so please do call us.”
