Man stabbed near alleyway after being chased by gang in 'frightening' attack

A Liverpool man has been taken to hospital after he suffered multiple stab wounds in a targeted attack.

Police were called out to Walton just before 5pm today following reports that a man had been stabbed near an alleyway on Lowell Street.

The man, who is in his 20s was reportedly chased by a group of other men who then stabbed him. He has been taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds to his shoulder and back. These injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Police are treating the incident as "targeted". An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

A police cordon was put in place at the scene off Goodison Road, on a residential street, and officers have made house-to-house enquiries in the area.

Chief Inspector Lisa Ledder, said to the ECHO : “Although this is believed to be a targeted attack, it is extremely reckless and frightening behaviour and we will do everything we can to find those responsible.

“Officers remain at the scene and are carrying out house-to-house enquiries, as well as extensive forensic analysis to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
