Man rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following crash between a cyclist and a motorcyclist

A cyclist is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash on a busy road in Oldham.

The collision between a cyclist and a motorcyclist happened on Huddersfield Road, in Lees, Oldham, on Bank Holiday Monday (August 31).

Police were called to the scene just after 5pm after receiving a report of a road traffic collision.

Emergency services attended and found that a 20-year-old motorcyclist, on a blue Suzuki motorbike, suffered a serious injury.

A cyclist -  a man in his 50s - was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He remains in hospital, Greater Manchester Police said.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the collision.

Sergeant Joe Barron, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Sadly this incident has left a man in a life-threatening condition and we are keen to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any dash-cam footage."
