Man rushed to hospital with head injury after early morning attack in East Kilbride

A man was rushed to hospital with a head injury after an early morning attack in East Kilbride.

Police were called to a report of a 'disturbance involving a group of people' on Telford Road at 2.55am this morning.

Officers arrived to find a 58-year-old man had been seriously assaulted and he was rushed to nearby Hairmyres Hospital, reports the Daily Record.

Police have since advised a 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson advised: "Around 2.55am on Tuesday, 12 October, police were called to a report of a disturbance involving a group of people in Telford Road, East Kilbride.

"Emergency services attended and found a 58-year-old man had been seriously assaulted.

"He was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital where he is receiving treatment for a head injury.

"A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are continuing."
