Man rushed to hospital following serious assault outside Scots nightclub

A man has been rushed to hospital in Edinburgh after being seriously assaulted outside a nightclub on Saturday evening.

The 27-year-old was attacked on Charlotte Street in Kirkcaldy, Fife, close to the town's waterfront, shortly after 11pm on May 28.

The Courier reports that police sealed off the area immediately surrounding the scene, close to the Society bar and nightclub, as an investigation got underway.

Officers also cordoned off an area of the riverside Esplanade as they made initial enquiries into the Saturday night bust-up.

Paramedics whisked the victim of the attack to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh 40 miles away for treatment.

An eyewitness told the local paper: “There were several police vehicles and the area and a the Esplanade was closed off.

“There was also a significant amount of activity in Charlotte Street and an ambulance also at the scene."

Police have since confirmed that they are following a "positive line of enquiry" while the victim recovers from the attack.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received a report of a 27-year-old man having been seriously assaulted on Charlotte Street in Kirkcaldy around 11.20pm on Saturday, May 28.

“The man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he remains in stable condition.

“Officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
