Man rushed to hospital following fire at Stirling city centre flat

A man has been hospitalised following a blaze at a city flat last night.

Murray Place was closed to traffic and pedestrians as emergency services tackled the fire at the property in Murray Place on Thursday night at around 8.25pm.

A 24-year-old man was rushed to hospital.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.24pm on Thursday, May 6, to reports of a building on fire at Murray Place, Stirling.

“Operations Control mobilised three appliances and one aerial rescue pump and firefighters extinguished a fire in a first floor flat of a three-storey property.

“One man was removed from the building and handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service who took him to hospital.

“Crews left the scene after ensuing the area was made safe.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 8.50pm on Thursday, May 6, to a report of a fire in a flat in Murray Place, Stirling, to assist colleagues in the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“The road was closed and re-opened around 10.45pm.

“A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.”
