Man rushed to hospital burns unit after 'falling into barbecue in garden' prompting major emergency response

A man has been rushed to a hospital burns unit after 'falling into a fire in their garden'.

All three emergency services descended on Brampton Road, near Hulton Lane Playing Fields, in Bolton amid reports of a man suffering with burns.

An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene, along with road ambulances, police cars and two fire engines at around 4pm today, June 13.

Firefighters discovered a man who had suffered burns to his head and neck after 'falling into a fire in their garden'. A woman was also left with burns to her arms, according to the fire service.

The fire is believed to have been a barbecue.

The man was taken by North West Ambulance Service to receive treatment at Wythenshawe Hospital Burns Centre.

The severity of his injuries has not yet been confirmed.

Emergency services remained at the scene for around 40 minutes.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "A man has fallen into a fire in their garden.

"We attended along with the ambulance service.

"There was a male suffering from burns to his head and neck, and a female suffering slight burns to her arm.

"Both were attended to by North West Ambulance Service. The man was transferred to Wythenshawe burns unit."
