Man rushed to hospital as 'trail of blood' seen outside cordoned off Glasgow pub

A 56-year-old man was rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted outside of a Glasgow pub on Sunday evening.

Emergency services raced to the incident outside of the Hootenanny pub around 11.15pm last night following reports of a disturbance.

Cops sealed off a section of Howard Street and the entrance to Dixon Street in the city centre following the incident.

It is understood that a trail of dried blood could be seen outside of the boozer on Monday as splatters of it led towards Cafe Nero in St Enoch Square.

The man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment and later discharged.

Police enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.15pm on Sunday, 1 August, we received a report of a disturbance in the St Enoch area of Glasgow.

“Officers attended and a 56-year-old man was found to have been seriously assaulted. He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment and later discharged.

“Enquiries to establish the full circumstances remain ongoing.”
