Man rushed to hospital as police shut down Scots road after motorbike and car crash

A man has been rushed to hospital after a horror crash involving a motorbike and a car.

The two-vehicle smash took place earlier today around lunchtime on Newark Place, Glenrothes.

Police raced to the scene shortly before 1:30pm today but the road remained partly closed a number of hours later.

A picture, shared by Fife jammer locations, revealed officers still at the road which was still blocked off at around 4pm.

There were earlier reports of "lots of police" and an ambulance in attendance.

One eyewitness, who had been there when the collision happened, said: "Was there washing my car wasn’t great hope the injured will be ok."

Police have confirmed the male motorcyclist was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on Newark Place in Glenrothes around 1.20pm on Sunday, 13 June.

"The male motorcyclist has been taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance and recovery has been arranged for his vehicle."
