Man rushed to hospital after 'unknown liquid thrown' in his face in Edinburgh's Saughton Park

Police raced to Saughton Park this afternoon amid reports a man had an "unknown liquid" was thrown in his face.

Edinburgh Live reported that a heavy police presence and an ambulance were spotted at the city park in the west of the capital this afternoon.

It is understood a 21-year-old man was taken to hospital following the shocking incident at around 2pm today.

Pictures from the scene showed at least three police cars on Balgreen Road and eyewitness told Edinburgh Live they saw an ambulance racing away from the park.

Officers have confirmed they were called to the scene following reports a man had a liquid thrown in his face, with enquiries ongoing to trace those responsible.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report that a man had an unknown liquid thrown in his face in Saughton Park, Edinburgh around 2.10pm on Saturday, 4 July, 2020.

"“The 21-year-old man has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

“Enquiries are ongoing to trace the person responsible.”
