Man rushed to hospital after thugs attack him with hammer during break-in in Rush, North Dublin

A man has been hospitalised after being attacked with a hammer during a break-in in North Dublin.

Gardai are on the hunt for two robbers who escaped with cash from a house in Rush in the early hours of Friday morning.

The victim had been home with his family on Whitestown Road when two men came into the house and attacked him before making their escape.

The man was rushed to Beaumont Hospital while gardai say the investigation is ongoing.

A spokesperson told Dublin Live: "Gardai are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred in the early hours of Friday 23rd August, 2019 at a house on Whitestown Road.

"Two men entered the house and assaulted the home owner (man) and left with a sum of money.  The injured man was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

"Investigations ongoing."
